Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run 45% done)

There are just those days that when you hit the road everything feels right and you run one of the best runs ever.  Today was one of those days.  I had a good stressful day at work.  Things went wonderfully well and terribly horrible.  The perfect day really.  I couldn't wait to get my run in.  I decided to just do a quick and dirty 5k run.  I was hoping for a sub 30 minute 5ks.  What I wasn't expecting was to set a new PB of 28:00 for my 5ks.  20 seconds or so faster then my previous PB.  So I am a pretty happy dude today.

I'm still way behind my goal but that's OK today.  Today everything is roses.  I'm going to just have to make up the kilometres and that is just what I plan on doing this week.  Watch this space.  Also a quick shout out to Bajarmusica who has taken over the lead in the slowmanrunning group with 70.94ks in the last few weeks.  Keep it up.  We are gunning for you.

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

Yep....life has gotten in the way again.  This has been a terrible running week.  I have been trying to figure out this new job that I will be starting at work soon.  Its been a lot of fun trying to figure out what the job will be.  So whenever I'm supposed to go for a run I get pulled into a meeting.  This week I have completed 13.7ks.  So the slowrunning man has to pick up his pace.

Today's run was good.  I completed 7.7ks in 47:51 minute and 5ks in 29:30 so all in all a very good day.  Because I had not really pushed myself this week I could feel the pinch as the run neared its end.  Looks like Mrs Slowrunning wants to go swimming tomorrow which means I will be able to get a run in while she swims.

Stats:

Distance: 13.7ks (8.5 miles)
Total kilometres: 445.38ks (276.8 miles)
Kilometres left: 564.62 k (350 miles)

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

I've run 3 days in a row.  I'm a machine.  In the past 3 days I've run over 18ks.  That is a good feeling.  I'm now going to take 2 days off and rest my weary (not really....not feeling much pain but that is a good thing) legs.  I have Monday off of work and lets see if I can get off a nice long run.  Really solidify all the good work that I've done these last couple of weeks.

I can proudly report that Mrs. Slowrunning is herself doing some amazing work.  Her swimming is coming along quite well.  I think anyone who can do 3 laps of an Olympic size swimming pool is a swimming god.....Mrs. Slowrunning can do 40.  Way to go.

Stats:
Distance: 6ks (3.7 miles)
Total kilometres: 431.68ks (269 miles)
Kilometres left: 578.32 k (360 miles)
Weight: 88.9 kg (195lbs)

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

Life and ice hockey sometimes just get in the way.  I had planned on doing a 10k run on Friday but that plan has been torpedoed.  My boss approached me yesterday and asked that I change my plans because he needs me to do something at work on Friday.  These things happen sometimes.  I was going to do a long run today instead but the Boston Bruin v. Chicago Blackhawk triple overtime game put a stop to that.  I settled instead for a 6k run.  I completed a 4k run yesterday so at least I have done 10ks the past couple of days.  I plan on doing another 6k run tomorrow after work so at least that's something.  I have this Monday off so lets hope I can get in another 10k run.

The rain finally let up here in Brisbane so I didn't have to run through too many puddles.  It was a perfect running evening and Mrs. Slowrunning was in the pool doing her swimming thing.  It's been a good day today.

I got home and weighed myself and I'm starting to finally see some positive results.  For weeks I was stuck between 90 and 91kgs but after today's run I'm down to 88.9 (195lbs) 15.1kgs (33lbs).  I still have a ways to go.  According to Runners World Magazine my ideal running weight is 73kgs.  Which means I have to lose another 15.9kgs.  So I am about half way there.  Sounds like fun.

Stats:
Distance: 10ks (6.2 miles)
Total kilometres: 425.68ks (264.5 miles)
Kilometres left: 584.32 k (363 miles)
Weight: 88.9 kg (195lbs)

Total Calories burned: 40,157

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run 41% done)

I didn't get a chance to run yesterday.  Which I didn't think would be such a big deal.  I had today off from work and could get in a long run today.  I woke up, all ready and excited and I looked outside and it was raining.....well it wasn't that bad......it looked like it might clear up......we drove (Mrs. Slowrunning and I) to St. Lucia to hit the pool and the running path.  It continued to rain.....and the rain started to come down a little bit harder.  By the time I was hitting the track the rain was quite steady.  It was a hard slog.  The dirt path was now pretty much a mud one and I had to run sure of foot.  I dodged a few puddles and in the end was able to complete 4ks.  3 less then I wanted to.  By June 15th I was hoping to be at 450ks.  I think I'm going to south of that.....how much south of that I don't know.  It really depends on this week.  If the rain lets up a little bit I can get in another run tomorrow.  I have Friday off of work again and am I planning on doing another 10k run.  So if I run tomorrow and Wednesday (5ks each) and then run 10ks on Friday I'll be at......435ks.  15ks shy of where I need to be.  So that means I'll have to start catching up really quick if I want to make the 1010ks by the end of the year.

Stats:
Distance: 4.02ks (2.5 miles)
Total kilometres: 415.68ks (258.3 miles)
Kilometres left: 594.32 k (369.3 miles)
Weight: 89.1 kg (196lbs)

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

- This post is a few days in the making -

I've done 3 runs since my last post.  I'm really sorry for not writing.  Its funny how life gets in the way sometimes.  The 3 runs have been good.  Today in fact I completed my longest run of the year.  I ran 10ks.  I took the day off of work and knew today would be the best day for me.  The weather is absolutely perfect for running.  It was 18c when I started the run.  Cool breeze blowing in over the Brisbane river.  My goal for my run today was to run the 10ks without stopping.  I have not done that yet.  Each time I've done a 10k run I have to take a few walking breaks.  I felt that I could do it this time.  I wanted to run each k around the 6:10 mark.  Slow enough for me not to be exhausted and fast enough for me to complete the run in about an hour.  I'm proud to report that I in fact completed the 10k run without once stopping.  I did hit a wall at about 7.5 but lucky for me the clash come on to rescue me.

I enjoyed todays run so much I can compare it to my other favourite runs.  The first run that comes to mind is the run I completed after my fathers death.  The second run is when I woke up early in the morning and ran from Perigian Beach to Coolum Beach at Sunrise.  This run was up there.

Stats: (I am only adding the stats from my previous 3 runs)

Distance: 19.56ks (12.2 miles)
Total kilometres: 411.66ks (256 miles)
Kilometres left: 598.34 k (372 miles)
Weight: 89.1 kg (196lbs)
Calories burned: 1784

Total Calories burned: 38,884
