Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

If my calculations are right by the end of this month I should be caught up or almost caught up.  To be fully caught up I need to be at 640ks before September starts.  After my 6.42k run tonight I should be close.

Today's run was great.  The weather was perfect and I just enjoyed the fact that I was out there running.  I had a bit of a pain in my lower back that I hoped I stretched the pain out after the run.  I am going to put an ice pack on my lower back before I go to bed tonight.

I'm very happy report that I have recruited another runner.  Good friend MO is going to run with me tomorrow.  I'm going to use the same principal that I used with VH.  1 minute of running and 2 minutes of walking.  In total I'm hoping that we can do 4ks.  MO gets off work at 5:00 pm so what I might do is go for a pre-run and get in a 4 or a 5k run before we meet up.  Hopefully tomorrow I will have completed 9ks.

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run) and the Return of VH

Once again this post is a little bit late.  I've done 3 runs.....well really 2.1 runs since my last post.  I tried to run with the slowrunning dog which meant that we ran/walked for a little bit and then she just lied down on the ground and I had to carry her for the rest of the time.  So, here I am....a grown man carrying a little white dog around.

I also completed a 5.5k run Saturday morning.  It was a nice run and I enjoyed it.  After that it was downhill.  I felt very lethargic for the rest of the weekend.  All I wanted to do was take naps.  I managed to get a bit of a nap in but I wanted one really big nap.

Today was a very good day.  Today saw the return of VH to this blog.  It has been months and months since I got to have a run with VH.  Despite her being very tired we got 4ks in.  There is some work to do there for both of us but it was such a lovely run.  Here is VH's playlist:

Talking head - Psycho killer
The Doors- Break on through
Lana del Ray - Video games
Bloc party - Say it right
David Bowie - Modern love
The doors - Riders of the storm
Tegan and Sara - Dancing in the dark
Dexys Midnight runners - Come on Eileen (do they have other songs?)
Sia - Paranoid android

Stats:
Distance: 11.25ks (7 miles)
Total kilometres: 609.44 ks (378.7 miles)
Kilometres left: 390.56 ks (242.7 miles)
Weight: 87.6 kg (193lbs)
Calories burned: 1,095

Total Calories burned: 56,639

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run...this where I am)

I haven't updated my map in a long time.  Here is where I am.

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

Today is a holiday in Brisbane.  It's Ekka day.  Ekka day is a day....I actually don't know what Ekka day is or how its come about.  The kids get a day off school.....I think they go somewhere.....oh I don't know what happens.  I woke up early and drove to the city (I dropped Mrs Slowrunning off at work...she had to work while I had the day off) and parked along the river.  I had planned on doing a 10k run.  The Bridge to Brisbane is 3 weeks away and I have promised myself that I'm going to run the whole way.  I've done the 10ks B2B twice now and there is a hill at the end that beats me each time.....but it wont beat me this year.

I had planned on turning around once I hit the 5k mark and complete the 10ks.....but when I got to about 4ks I was feeling pretty good and decided to do 12ks.  It was a great feeling.  In the past I've gotten tired and decided to end a run earlier.  It's a nice feeling to extend a run.  By the time I got to about the 8k run I was getting pretty tired and couldn't believe that I had another 4ks to finish.  I can proudly say that I ran the whole 12ks.  This is the longest I have ever run without stopping.  Last year I ran 15ks but there was some walking involved.  In total I ran for one hour and sixteen minutes and burned 1024 calories.  It was a good day.

Earlier in the week I ran 7ks.  It was a great run (despite the rising heat.....I thought this was winter!) as I ran I was streaming the Toronto Blue Jays game on my iPhone.  So, here I am in Brisbane Australia running along the Brisbane river listening to a baseball game from home.  How cool is that!

Stats:
Distance: 19.19ks (12 miles)
Total kilometres: 598.19 ks (371.7 miles)
Kilometres left: 401.81 ks (249.7 miles)
Weight: 87.6 kg (193lbs)
Calories burned: 1,673

Total Calories burned: 55,544

Brisbane to Sydney Opera House (virtual run)

It has been a few days since I have updated the blog.  Sorry 'bout that.  I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to update.  It's not like I am not running.  I'm still running just as much.  I'll have to keep on top of my blog writing.

I've had some good runs and some terrible runs.  I had one run that lasted .64 of a kilometer.  It was horrible.  I realized that while I was trying to run I hadn't drunk any water that day and I was dehydrated!  Every step resulted in my brain being jolted.  That will never happen again.

I've also started to run to podcasts instead of music.  That has been an interesting switch.  It's one that I will continue to use.  I quickly get tired of playlists and this is a way to listen to something different.  I can't say I could do it on every run.  But every so often it really works wonders.  I wonder if I will ever listen to audio books?

Stats:

Distance: 27.18ks (16.9 miles)
Total kilometres: 579 ks (359.8 miles)
Kilometres left: 421 ks (261.6 miles)
Weight: 88.3 kg (194lbs)
Calories burned: 2,475

Total Calories burned: 53,871
